The word timeless shouldn't be used lightly. However, in the case of "Hatch,” the debut album from Obscure Birds, you can certainly describe their brand of no-frills, explorative indie as just that. Building upon their previously released singles, there's a warmth about the record that can't be manufactured. It feels organic, with the band tipping their caps to bygone eras of rock and roll while still melding together different sounds into something they can call their own. If you were raised on your parents' vinyl, this is a band you need to give a listen.
